Instructions

        1

Advance in your current career by applying skills you have learned through your MBA program. Inform your current employer that you have earned a graduate degree. Depending upon your job, you may qualify for a raise in salary after completing an advanced degree program.
        2

Apply for a management position in a private business. Large and small businesses seek qualified managers who have trained in MBA programs. When interviewing, emphasize strengths of your managerial style and how the MBA program helped you to develop those strengths.

        3

Seek a leadership or management position within the local, state or federal government. There are many options for using an MBA in government work. Examples include managing government-sponsored agencies, leading teams of political staffers and directing special projects funded by the government.

Work for a nonprofit organization. Because nonprofits operate much like for-profit businesses in some ways, they often seek individuals with MBA degrees to fill positions such as director, manager and accountant. Unlike private businesses, nonprofits may offer other positions, such as fundraiser, for which MBA graduates have been trained.
        5

Start your own business. Use the training you received in your MBA program to create a concept and a business plan. One factor affecting the success of new businesses is the skill level of the business owner. MBA degrees aid graduates in developing aptitudes for record-keeping, financial management, creative problem-solving and many other skills necessary for promoting a small business.
